REAL FOOD DRIVE PARTNERS FAQs

FAQs

What is REAL food?

The idea of "real food," meaning food that has healthy, tasty, whole ingredients and provides essential nutrients for human health, is presented in contrast to food that is produced in an unsustainable way and may be filled with chemical additives and empty "junk" calories.

What is a REAL Food Drive?

It's a food drive designed to raise REAL food rather than what traditional food drives raise - non-perishable, processed food.

How does a REAL Food Drive work?

Run an online food drive at AmpYourGood.com. Once a web page is set up for your drive, engage your community to support the drive. People who want to donate can visit your page and purchase REAL food at the website - fruits, vegetables, whole healthy meals and other food items. When your drive is over, Amp will deliver all of the food raised by your drive to the hunger organization you are supporting. To set up your drive, contact RealFoodTeam@ampyourgood.com. You'll be asked to provide a couple of pieces of information to get your drive registered and ready to go.

Who can participate?

Anyone or any organization who wants to run a food drive to raise healthy food. We already have companies, schools, faith based organizations and civic organizations planning their REAL food drives. OR, be an Ambassador - help create awareness of the campaign and movement by sharing news with your community.

Does it cost anything?

There is no cost to run a REAL food drive. People will donate food by purchasing it at Amp Your Good's platform at regular retail prices. There is no cost to deliver the food.

I'm a hunger organization, how can I participate?

If you are looking for REAL food to serve your mission, let us know and we'll put you on our list of organizations that need help. Also, if there are groups that are going to run food drives to support you, let them know about the campaign and encourage them to run a REAL food drive.

When is the campaign scheduled?

The campaign period will begin on September 15, 2017 and end just before Thanksgiving on November 22, 2017.

Does our drive have to run the entire campaign period?

No. Your drive can run anytime during the campaign period. Some groups are doing a single day drive on Food Day, October 16, 2017. Other groups are using Food Day to launch their drive or to give it a boost.

Why is this campaign important?

There are millions of food drives conducted each year in the US that raise over billions of dollars worth of food. Nearly all of this food is non-perishable food - oftentimes lacking in nutritional value. Additionally, a lot of this food is never used - it may be expired, damaged or simply the wrong stuff - so its just thrown away. This campaign is designed to raise REAL food and to ensure that every donated food item is able to feed someone faced with hunger. The campaign is also designed to create awareness of the plight of those struggling with food insecurity. According to Feeding America, the #1 coping strategy by those faced with hunger is to buy cheap, unhealthy food. Another coping strategy is to turn to food assistance organizations and we want to enable those organizations to provide REAL food instead of traditional non-perishable food.
